Az Oroszországban nagyjavított Mi-17-esek hazaérkezésével és a 2017-es pótköltségvetésben a Mi-24-esek talpra állítására szánt pénzekkel bizonyosnak tűnik, hogy még nyolc évig megmaradnak a szovjet-orosz forgószárnyas platformok a honvédségben. Elérkezett a pillanat, amikor a szakmai nyilvánosságnak miszlikre kell szednie ezeket a lépéseket, számon kérve azok tartalmát. Mondjuk azt, hogy Magyarország vezetői 2017-ben hogy ültethetnek hajózó személyzetet, és az általuk szállított magyar és szövetséges katonákat olyan helikopterekbe, melyek semmilyen önvédelmi berendezéssel nem rendelkeznek? Pedig hogy lehet mit tenni, arra ott a 706-os és 707-es ex-PP Mi-17-esek példája, melyen infravörös megtévesztő töltet kivető berendezés, és infravörös zavaróberendezés egyaránt volt. Szögezzük le: a túlélőképesség tekintetében az ASZO az "erkölcsi minimum", az indításjelző által automatikusan aktivált infracsapdaszóró pedig a számunkra is reálisan elérhető megoldás, lásd cseh Mi-171-esek.
