Au Danemark, au Royaume-Uni et, à présent, au sein des instances de l'UE, le principe d'une politique migratoire hyperrestrictive s'impose sous la pression des partis nationalistes. 

Un nouveau scandale vient ternir l'image de l'Union européenne. Federica Mogherini, qui a exercé le poste de cheffe de la diplomatie de l'UE entre 2014 et 2019, a été placée en garde à vue et inculpée mercredi 3 décembre par le parquet européen. Elle est visée, avec deux autres collaborateurs, par une enquête pour usage frauduleux de fonds européens.

Les députés ont obtenu l’adoption de nouvelles mesures européennes visant à améliorer la prévention et la répression de la corruption, en renforçant la coopération et la transparence.

La région Bruxelles-Capitale est sans gouvernement depuis 541 jours. Cela égale en termes de longueur à la crise fédérale de 2010-2011 au cours de laquelle la Belgique n'avait pas eu de gouvernement fédéral de plein exercice. Cette fois-ci, il s'agit de la région de Bruxelles-Capitale seulement, mais le symbole est très fort. Les partis qui négocient un gouvernement de coalition n'arrivent pas à se mettre d'accord depuis les élections régionales du 9 juin 2024, ce qui pourrait avoir des conséquences sur l'économie.

En Ukraine, l'armée russe a réalisé, en novembre, sa plus grosse progression sur le front depuis un an, soit 700 km2, indique l'Institut américain pour la guerre. Si depuis lundi 1er décembre, Moscou revendique la prise de la ville clé de Pokrovsk dans l'oblast de Donetsk, Kiev assure que ses soldats n'ont pas quitté la ville et que les combats s'y poursuivent.

Pour la sixième fois de l’année, l'émissaire de Donald Trump Steve Witkoff se rend, mardi 2 décembre, à Moscou, cette fois-ci accompagné du gendre du président, Jared Kushner. L'émissaire américain rencontre Vladimir Poutine ce mardi après-midi. L'objectif est d'avancer sur le plan de paix pour mettre fin de la guerre en Ukraine.

Lundi, les négociateurs du Parlement et du Conseil sont parvenus à un accord provisoire sur des règles révisées pour le régime commercial préférentiel de l’UE avec les pays en développement.

Depuis son arrivée au pouvoir en juillet 2024, le gouvernement travailliste a mis en place des politiques qui ont surpris à gauche au Royaume-Uni. La plus récente est la remise à plat du statut de réfugiés, qui durcit radicalement l'accès au droit d'asile et au regroupement familial. Le Labour a-t-il changé d'identité ? Beaucoup de militants peinent en tout cas à se reconnaître dans cette nouvelle gauche britannique.

Le président turc Recep Tayyip Erdogan a dénoncé lundi 1er décembre une « escalade inquiétante » après les attaques de drones revendiquées par l'Ukraine, qui ont visé vendredi et samedi deux pétroliers en mer Noire, à proximité des côtes turques.

Beaucoup de pays du continent européen sont frappés par l'exode de leur jeunesse. C'est vrai y compris au sein de l'Union européenne, mais la situation est encore plus critique dans les pays voisins. En particulier dans les Balkans.

The third Disability Rights Week in the European Parliament takes place from 1 to 5 December 2025. On the initiative of the EMPL Committee, all Committees, Policy Departments, Vice-Presidents, Questors and Directorates General are invited to organise hearings and other types of activities focusing on the rights of persons with disabilities in their respective policy and administrative areas.

The rights of persons with disabilities have been high on the agenda in the past mandate and the EU and its institutions have been very active in that respect. Many flagship initiatives stemming from the Commission's Disability Strategy 2021 to 2030 have been put in place but we are still awaiting an update on its second half. The UN CRPD Committee put forward a report on the EU in Spring this year, containing recommendations how the EU and its institutions can better comply with the UN CRPD and thus gave us homework. The forthcoming Disability Rights Week is an excellent opportunity to discuss these issues with, and to learn from persons with disabilities and their representative organisations.

En Ukraine, les combats font rage sur le front de l'Est, notamment à Pokrovsk, dans le Donbass. Cernée par les forces russes, l’armée ukrainienne tient encore une partie de la ville. Dans ce contexte, une vidéo censée montrer des soldats russes dansant sur le front gagne en viralité sur les réseaux sociaux. En réalité, cette scène remonte à 2023.

Les ventes d'armes des 100 plus grands fabricants d'armes mondiaux ont atteint un niveau record pour l'année 2024, conséquence de la forte demande liée aux conflits en Ukraine et à Gaza, rapporte l'Institut international de recherche sur la paix de Stockholm. Si les ventes et les revenus des marchands d'armes connaissent une croissance exponentielle, le revers de la médaille est que les fabricants peinent à répondre aux commandes. 

Deux semaines après son dernier passage à Paris, le président ukrainien Volodymyr Zelensky s'est de nouveau entretenu avec Emmanuel Macron ce lundi 1er décembre à l’Élysée. Le plan de paix en cours de négociation pour l'Ukraine n'est pour l'heure « pas finalisé », notamment en ce qui concerne les questions territoriales, des garanties de sécurité et de l'utilisation des actifs russes gelés, a dit lundi le président Emmanuel Macron.

Le président ukrainien est en visite en France ce 1er décembre 2025. Volodymyr Zelensky se trouve en grande difficulté tant sur le plan intérieur qu'international. Alors que M. Zelensky est empêtré dans un scandale de corruption qui dévore son entourage, les négociations initiées par Donald Trump n’avancent pas. Le tout alors que l’Ukraine est visée jour et nuit par des drones et des missiles russes, comme à 100 kilomètres du front, dans la ville d'Odessa, au bord de la mer Noire.

Des négociations entre la délégation ukrainienne et de hauts responsables américains se sont tenues ce dimanche 30 novembre en Floride, pour discuter du plan américain visant à trouver une issue à la guerre avec la Russie. Les discussions en Floride ont été « productives », mais « il reste encore du travail », a déclaré le secrétaire d'État américain, plus prudent que le président Trump, qui estime qu'il y a de bonnes chances pour un accord. Ces pourparlers intervenaient alors que Kiev est sous fortes pressions militaire et politique, et fait face aux retombées du limogeage du bras droit de Volodymyr Zelensky à la suite d'une vaste enquête anticorruption. 

The Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) will hold a workshop on the Human rights dimension of EU-Latin America relations in the context of the EU-CELAC Summit on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, from 15:00 to17:30. Organised with the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly, in the aftermath of the recent summit where EU-27 and CELAC-33 leaders committed to further enhance cooperation, the meeting aims to turn the focus to human rights.

The workshop will open with a testimonial from Sakharov Prize Laureate 1992 Asociación Madres de la Plaza de Mayo. Prof.

Par Engstrom, from University College London will set the scene for each panel - providing first an overview of the situation of human rights in Latin America and then turning to human rights accountability mechanisms, seeking the best ways for the EU to engage - and Prof. Maria Garcia, from Bath university, will speak in the forward-looking panel.

Discussions will further bring together representatives from the International Federation for Human Rights and Human Rights Watch, as well as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the European External Action Service and the European Commission.
