EU-Staaten dürfen die unterschiedslose Übertragung und Speicherung von Kommunikationsdaten nur dann vornehmen, wenn eine "ernsthafte Bedrohung der nationalen Sicherheit" vorliegt, urteilte der EuGH. Ansonsten verstoße sie gegen diverse Rechtsgrundsätze.

Das Europäische Parlament hat am Dienstag über die Aktualisierung des EU-Klimaziels für 2030 abgestimmt. Offenbar wird das Parlament sich für eine Reduzierung der Treibhausgasemissionen um 60 Prozent bis zum Ende des Jahrzehnts aussprechen.

In Berlin beginnt das Gerichtsverfahren gegen einen russischen Auftragskiller wegen des Mordes an einem Exil-Tschetschenen im August 2019. Der russische Staat sitzt mit auf der Anklagebank.

The 22nd summit between the European Union and Ukraine will take place in Brussels on Tuesday 6 October 2020. This is the first bilateral summit held in Brussels since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

European Council President Michel presented the conclusions of the Special European Council to the plenary of the European Parliament.

The Council added Anguilla and Barbados to the EU list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, and removed Cayman Islands and Oman from the list.
