Life of factory workers in China... pic.twitter.com/OhZIuHipUQ

— Mayte Chummia (@Maytechummia) January 2, 2026 Geez. I can't even imagine working in a place like that. Maybe there are spots in the West that mirror that shit but I kinda get all those suppressed reports of Chinese workers going postal (showing my age with that phrase huh).

Maduro says Venezuela is 'ready' to make deal with US on drugs and oil after military strikes

Snafu-solomon.blogspot - Fri, 02/01/2026 - 21:29
via Fox News
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said Thursday that his government is open to negotiating an agreement with the United States after months of American military pressure targeting drug trafficking networks tied to his government.
In a pre-taped interview with Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet that aired on state television, Maduro said Venezuela is "ready" to discuss a drug-trafficking deal with the U.S. He called on the countries to "start talking seriously, with data in hand."
"The U.S. government knows, because we’ve told many of their spokespeople, that if they want to seriously discuss an agreement to combat drug trafficking, we’re ready," he said. "If they want oil, Venezuela is ready for U.S. investment, like with Chevron, whenever they want it, wherever they want it and however they want it."

Here

Sounds real close to full capitulation.

Are the hawks so hungry to flex muscle that negotiation is no longer possible?  I hope not because if we're able to get what we want then its as close to perfect victory as anything I've seen in the past two decades.

Never heard of the Yekatit 12 Massacre but a quick search revealed some really heinous stuff.

As was said in the comments on this Reddit post, the Italians of that time deserved their own Nuremberg trial.  Japanese too.

In case you missed it the land war against Venezuela has already started

Snafu-solomon.blogspot - Thu, 01/01/2026 - 19:51

President Trump says the U.S. "knocked out" a "big facility" last week linked to alleged drug boat operations, although he didn't offer many details.

"There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs," Mr. Trump said Monday as he spoke to… pic.twitter.com/01XofoKjL0

— CBS News (@CBSNews) December 29, 2025 An attack against a port facility that resulted in a large explosion? Barely anyone notices? Yeah the land war has started. Just spitballing here but I'd guess either a strike from stealth aircraft (probably F-35s since plane trackers would tell us if a non-stealthy plane had flown near it) or we're seeing one of the Special Ops outfits hitting it with something heavy (heavy for man portable weapons).
Either way it doesn't matter.
The ground war is in full effect and if they're targeting port facilities then they probably have boots on the ground doing all kinds of covert shit.
Why the delay and why no firm announcement?
No need to disrupt 4th quarter earnings.  With the exception of gas prices (you can exclude that for the folks in California) the thing people are pissed about in the President's base is the cost of things.
Fully expect things to ramp up quickly this year.  By ramp up I mean a pressure campaign on the Venezuelan President.  Trump doesn't want to put troops on the ground but he does want regime change.
I don't have the timeline on how long the 22nd MEU has been hovering off the coast there but I'd bet that this will be done or a transition from an "invasion" type operation to a more Army led ground occupation op is what happens.
When is the 22nd done with their 9 month deployment?
