2026. február 24-én António Costa, az Európai Tanács elnöke Ursula von der Leyennel, az Európai Bizottság elnökével együtt Kijevbe utazik, hogy megemlékezzenek Oroszország Ukrajna elleni agressziós háborújának negyedik évfordulójáról.

A Tanács elfogadta álláspontját, melynek értelmében lehetővé teszi Ausztria számára, hogy módosítsa a Svájccal kötött, a határ menti régiókban autóbusszal végzett kabotázsról szóló közúti szállítási megállapodását.

A Tanács 2027 februárjáig meghosszabbította az EUNAVFOR ASPIDES műveletet, hogy a vörös-tengeri válságra válaszul megoltalmazza a hajózás szabadságát és a tengeri védelmet.

A biztonságos származási országok uniós jegyzéke gyorsabb menekültügyi eljárásokat eredményez, a biztonságos harmadik ország elvének köszönhetően pedig szigorodik a menedékkérelmek elfogadhatóságának szabályozása.

A Tanács hivatalosan elfogadta az uniós borágazat megerősítését és időtállóvá tételét célzó rendeletet.
