Debate: Is EU unity strong enough to last?

In signing the "Declaration of Rome", the leaders of 27 EU member states - without the UK - pledged their commitment to upholding the unity and common values of the community on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome. Notwithstanding this demonstration of unity, some commentators express concern about the current state of the Union. Others praise the EU as a marvellous construct.

Debate: Why Trump couldn't abolish Obamacare

The Republicans withdrew the health bill they had drafted to replace Obamacare shortly before it was put to vote in the House of Representatives. The party's right-wing refused to give its backing, leaving the GOP unable to honour its key campaign pledge. Commentators are not surprised by this crushing defeat.

General : Only days after the terrorist attack in London the civil liberties committee discussed the EU's security situation with German Interior Minister Interior Thomas de Maizière and his French counterpart Matthias Fekl debated on 27 March. Both ministers spoke about the need to secure the EU's external borders, to better share information between EU countries and to address the new challenges of radicalisation and terrorism.

The EU is moving steadily towards enhancement of its relationship with Iraq and is committed to a long term, mutually beneficial relationship. The general focus of EU support is on helping Iraq to better use its own resources, through capacity building activities in the areas of good governance; socio-economic recovery through education and strengthening institutional capacity; water management and agriculture.

The Association Agreement between Jordan and the EU entered into force in May 2002. Beyond this agreement, cooperation with Jordan has been regulated since 2005 by an action plan within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).

Parliament has long fought for greater flexibility within the Multi-annual Financial Framework (MFF), which would apply for the remainder of the 2014-2020 MFF.
