Visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Michel met with Šefik Džaferović, Željko Komšić and Milorad Dodik, members of the Presidency. They discussed how to give momentum to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European perspective.

The Council’s Permanent Representatives Committee today adopted a negotiating mandate on the proposal for a decision on the obligation to notify CORSIA (carbon offsetting and reduction scheme for international aviation) offsetting requirements.

President Michel continued his Western Balkan trip with a visit to Albania, where he emphasised the EU's firm commitment to Albania's accession path. President Michel also thanked Albania for standing united with the EU in the support to Ukraine.

During the first part of his Western Balkan visit, President Michel, speaking in Serbia, reaffirmed the EU's full commitment to the country’s accession negotiations. He added that the EU is counting on Serbia’s support to help end Russia’s war in Ukraine. President Michel also visited the Belgrade Science-Technology Park.

Government incentives for the installation of new fossil fuel boilers should be stopped “much more quickly” because of Russia's war in Ukraine, an EU official explained, saying the current 2027 end date is “far too late” and must be brought forward.

The EU plans to invest up to 300 billion euros in the form of loans and grants in the initiative.
