In Brasilien gerät Präsident Michel Temer aufgrund von Korruptionsvorwürfen zu­nehmend unter Druck. Bereits im Mai wurden strafrechtliche Ermittlungen gegen ihn aufgenommen. Nun rückt auch eine Entscheidung des Obersten Wahlgerichts über den Vorwurf illegaler Wahlkampffinanzierung näher. Der Wahlsieg, den Temer 2014 zusam­men mit Dilma Rousseff errang, könnte annulliert werden. Zugleich sind die regionalen Verzweigungen des Bestechungssystems in den letzten Monaten immer deutlicher geworden. Dafür sorgten Aussagen, die verurteilte Manager des Odebrecht-Konzerns gegen Strafminderung machten. Die brasilianische Justiz hat diese Informa­tionen jetzt ausländischen Staatsanwaltschaften zugänglich gemacht, so dass auch in anderen lateinamerikanischen Ländern mit neuen Prozessen gegen mutmaßlich korrupte Poli­tikerinnen und Politiker zu rechnen ist. Angesichts der Affäre sollte Deutschland in der Zusammenarbeit mit Brasilien und Lateinamerika noch stärker die Umsetzung von Antikorruptionsmaßnahmen fördern. Darüber hinaus gilt es dafür zu sorgen, dass deutsche Unternehmen sich nicht an illegalen Praktiken in der Region beteiligen.
